Copper Leaf Rolls

Copper Leaf Rolls, also known as Copper Ribbon Leaf, are produced by mounting individual sheets of genuine copper leaf onto a continuous backing paper, creating a seamless roll format for efficient application across large surfaces. Made from pure copper, this format delivers a rich, warm metallic finish while allowing for fast, consistent coverage on expansive or linear projects.
Available in 50 meter master rolls (with 75 meter rolls available by special order), Copper Leaf Rolls are ideal for covering large surface areas such as walls, ceilings, architectural features, and extended trim. The continuous format minimizes seams and improves efficiency compared to traditional leaf books.
Each roll is created by placing 6 1/8" square copper leaves onto a continuous length of waxed paper with an approximate 2 mm overlap, resulting in a continuous row of 6" copper squares when applied. This construction produces a smooth, uniform metallic surface with consistent alignment. The backing paper and cardboard core are manufactured to equal widths, ensuring the copper leaf remains precisely positioned within the edges of the roll.
Copper ribbon leaf is available in pre-cut widths and can be easily cut down to custom sizes as needed. When trimmed, both the copper leaf and waxed backing paper are cut together, producing a clean, precise edge for detailed or specialized applications.
Copper Leaf Rolls are particularly well suited for:
• Large-scale walls and ceiling applications
• Architectural and decorative paneling
• Long moldings, trim, and borders
• Furniture and interior decorative finishes
• Production environments requiring speed and consistency
Because the leaf is supported by a waxed paper backing, it can be handled directly without the use of a gilder’s tip. During application, the leaf is pressed onto a properly prepared adhesive surface, and the backing is then lifted away to reveal a continuous metallic finish.
Due to the presence of wax residue from the rolling process, water-based topcoats are not recommended, as they may not properly adhere to the surface. Oil-based or solvent-based sealers are more suitable and are strongly recommended, as copper is a reactive metal that will naturally oxidize and darken over time if left unprotected.
Like all metal leaf, copper leaf rolls should be stored in a stable environment, protected from excessive heat, cold, or humidity to maintain proper adhesion between the leaf and backing.
With their continuous format, precision construction, and efficient application, Copper Leaf Rolls provide a dependable solution for achieving a rich, warm metallic finish across large and complex surfaces.
